It’s a beautiful sunny day and everything is covered with last night’s snow. There might be an opossum living in my backyard. My kitchen is full of tasty baking. I’m in a great mood and I don’t want to ruin it by bitching about some overpriced shit-ass hair goop that does squat. So today I’m going to talk about a product I actually like.
Sunsilk’s Hydro TLC 24/7 creme is cheap (about $6 a bottle, sometimes less) and excellent, a great all-purpose moisturizing leave-in conditioner/anti-frizz lotion. It works equally well on wet or dry hair. And it smells nice (at least my boyfriend thinks so). I’ve been trying to allow myself only one hair product when I travel, and this is usually the one I take.
So why would I even think to use anything else? Because even though the pink stuff is at least partially responsible for one of the best hair days I’ve ever had (partial responsibility goes to the perfect early fall breeze, nature’s best hairdryer), it doesn’t always work so perfectly alone. My hair is full of alchemical mysteries that I am still struggling to understand. Sometimes you want something a bit more curl enhancing – Hydro TLC certainly doesn’t hinder curls (it’s very moisturizing and softening, on my hair at least), but it’s not a product specifically for curly hair.
I am slightly less enamoured with the Sunsilk shampoos and conditioners – I find them a bit drying, which is weird because when they first hit the market I liked them a lot. (Maybe they changed the formula.) But the pink goop is great, and one of the few hair products that I replace regularly.
