So I sat down tonight ready to finish off my Quickies in New York Fashion Week (oh that’s a bit naughty sounding) and I decided to finish with the fabulous Issac Mizrahi.
But then I got side-tracked. I got a case of remember the times, you know, remember that time when Issac Mizrahi had his own talk show…apparently I was the only one who watched it. Remember that time when Issac Mizrahi was one of the first designers to do a line of clothing for Target (oh j’adore Targte) and people FREAKED OUT. (death of fashion – bahahaha – it saved your asses!). And then I remembered that I should look at the runway show.
I have come to the conclusion that this bitch is fearless, he will try everything at least once. And you know what the result of doing that is? A guy who knows his shit. I would trust this guy to dress my Mom for my wedding. That is trust and love I have for a very tiny group.

In conclusion, just frickin' gorgeous.
kiss kiss New York, see yah in a bit.

Have I mentioned before that my cable got cut off? It was a few months ago, and I’m still bitter.
I miss Project Runway SO BAD! And I’m one of the freaks who enjoys the judges! Seriously! Nina does not scare me, Ich Liebe Heidi! And of course, Michael K0rs.
Mr Kors is someone I think of automatically when I think of New York, if he could have been the fifth in Sex in the City – I would have been complete. No other label screams “I am so clean and classic, pardon me, I’m about to hop onto a plane” than Michael Kors.
He makes it look too easy.

Oh hellz yes. Put me in a slick loft looking out onto the Park. I am so there.

Get down, get funky – its Betsy Johnson time.
This lady make me smile…everytime.
When I am sick of people trying to find the deep meaning of eighties shoulders and mesh pants, telling me 3 years head of time that people will wear teal (I don’t know that – but know you what I mean). Betsey Johnson reminds that we wear things for fun. Look at me dammit. Look at this dress. Don’t I look fantastic.

oh yah, this party is gonna be good
Party gear sassy ladies and for fancy guys. Thank you Betsy for making this industry so much more fun, and you didn’t even need a regular ‘runway show’. Your clothes equal a party – no matter the location or situation.

I watched the first episode of ‘The Beautiful Life’ starring Mishca Barton, and in the first scene of the show – the BIG fashion show scene – and who is the designer we see? Zac Posen. This guy is on so many shows – I forget sometimes that he ACTUALLY makes clothes. And really nice clothes too!
This collection didn’t scream eighties – it did a sexy yell. Bright colours, crazy textures – me likey.

Candy-coated good fun, mmm mmm good
Except when he put gigantic puffy arms on small coats – especially on skinny skinny girls – looks weird. Also – what’s with the hand applique brooches Zac?
This guy knows how to pimp himself out in the media – he is a student of P-Diddy, remember. But at least with this guy, you can see the talent is there. Wearing Zac Posen means having a good time – don’tcha think?

Ok, I’m going to admit something, i only know this name because Michelle Obama wears his stuff all the time. Which truly shows that whatever she wears = success.
A few quickies back I said Diane Von Furstenburg was Queen of Print and Colour. We have a King. Who do I have to murder to get fabrics like this??? His silhouettes are nice and simple but those fabrics. oooooooh

gimme your fabric connection!!!
I’m glad Michelle introduced me to you, Thakoon. i look forward to many many fabric-jealousy-inducing collections to come.

Marc, Marc, Marc…
I enjoy you, I ADORE Louis Vuitton very highly…. there’s something about your own label in New York that’s just…
OK, let me put it this way – thanks to this collection, look forward to hipsters in New York covered in ruffles next spring and summer. This brings me a kind of sick glee. Attractive skinny women wearing ruffles all over their entire body. All because Marc told them too. Yup.
Here’s an outfit that I did like – I enjoy looking for the equivalent at H&M in a few months. I’ll give Marc Jacobs this, he gave these skinny girls some girth.
PS – the Kabuki make-up? kinda cool. But here’s the scary one – look for the return of the scrunchy.

Looking at Diane V’s SS10 collection reminded me that – oh yah! these collections are for the SUMMER!
Leave it to the Queen of print and colour to remind us that after all the slush and ice coming up, that there will be happy, tra la la la skipping through the valley Springtime.

what's that song again about San Francisco? ...with flowers in her hair...
Diane V goes extra Love-Child with long flowy chiffon and literally puts flowers in their hair. Perhaps Ms V is revisiting her Woodstock days… see these looks next summer on all the musician’s wives at music festivals.

I have a theory about Alexander Wang customers.
1) They have too much money to shop at H&M
2) They think they’re too hip for Marc Jacobs
3) They spend alot of time on their hair so that is looks like they don’t.
Just a theory.

Alexander Wang - bringing the sports-bra to Fashion Week. Thanks, but no thanks.
The de-constructed men’s underwear and old rugby gear is really not my bag, could be yours, but not mine. I personally enjoy Alexander Wang when he plays with the classic white shirt, even if its falling off a bony girl’s shoulder. I go by the rule that if you’re going to de-construct, de-construct the classics.
My prediction – Lady Gaga will wear start wearing Wang when she grows up a bit and can’t do the crazy-shit anymore. That’s not an insult to any party, that’s just fashion evolution.

My goodness this guy loves drama. One of my favourites little bitches from Project Runway – Christian Siriano, winner of season 4th season, is actually making a name for himself.
This guys LUVS hats = drama. I really like the architecture he does with fabrics, but not too large that you can’t get through doorways. He has 3 major colour themes, golden beige, splattered blue and black, and burnt orange. I enjoyed the splattered the most – I am drawn to graphics, I can’t help it…

ooooooooooooh yah - I enjoys it
I’m glad to see someone who got out of the reality show world and is swimming – not Olympic standards of course – but still swimming dammit!
Fierce honey, fierce.

OK – I have a few fashion-cringe phrases; such as when someone says “fancy frock” I shiver (ewwww). Don’t know why honestly.
Another of these cringe-inducing phrases is ‘Fashion Wunder Kid’ – I HATE this term – mainly because it is ALWAYS a guy, in his early twenties.
So a while back when Jason Wu came along and he got Michelle Obama to wear his dress and blah blah blah – I was so ready to jump on the Love-Wu-Wagon, but that damn term popped up and I stepped back. grrrrrr.
Jason Wu’s SS10 collection is here and I had to take a look. And I love it. It’s ADORABLE. That’s the term for it. Sweet dresses, sweater sets, pencil skirts! And for his fancy party dress – FEATHERS! No eighties shoulders (thank GAWD) and really amazing prints.

I want I want I want I want
In conclusion – Jason Wu is not a ‘Fashion Wunder Kid’. This guy knows what he’s doing, Michelle picked well. I will not cringe when I hear Jason Wu, I will gladly sit up and see what he has in store.
